Instructions for setting up and using AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)
If you have previously set up AOL Instant Messaging on your workstation please send
the Instant Message to 'OMSSUPPORT'. Live On-Line Support is available from Monday
through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM EST.
If you do not have AOL Instant Messaging set up on your workstation, please follow these instructions
to do so.
- First, you will need to receive the set up program (Install_AIM.exe). On newer versions of OMS, this should be included on the disk in the 'Utilities' folder. If you do not have this set up program, we can either
send it to you or you can download it from www.download.com.
- Once you have the setup file (Install_AIM.exe), double click on the icon in the install directory to execute the set up process. Once the set up process has been executed, you will be promoted to read a license agreement. Click 'Yes' to continue. Click 'next' twice to continue. You will be promoted for your zip code. Please
enter and continue. Click 'Next' two more times. The install has now begun.
- You will now need to select a screen name. Assuming that you do not have one, click 'Get a Screen Name'.
- Your default web browser will now be open to register for a screen name as well as a login password. Remember-
the screen names are unique for every person that uses AOL Instant Messaging, so your choices may be limited. For example, a screen name of "Joe" may already be in use, but Joe9999 may not.
- Once you have completed the registration process, you can double click the AOL instant messaging icon on your
desktop, enter in your username and password, and send instant messages to 'OMSSUPPORT'.
